Elkhart Civic Theatre Announce Auditions For ‘Murder on the Orient Express’

BRISTOL — Auditions for Ken Ludwig’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express” are at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 and Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Elkhart Civic Theatre/The Bristol Opera House, 210 E. Vistula St., Bristol.
This comedic take on Agatha Christie’s classic mystery was commissioned by the Christie Estate. Performances for the show are Feb. 24-26 and March 3-5, 2023. Rehearsals for the show will not begin until Jan. 9, 2023.
Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. Scripts are available for perusal by contacting the theatre office from 1-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Please bring a list of all potential rehearsal conflicts from Jan. 9 through March 5. John Shoup will direct the play.
A sample of the character descriptions include:
- Hercule Poirot: Male, 50-65. A famous Belgian detective; a “big” personality; authoritative, witty, charismatic and slightly pompous; driven to find the answers, good or bad, with a strong moral sense; very aware of his ability and his well-deserved reputation.
- Monsieur Bouc: Male, 30-65. A Belgian man of good humor; playful, proud and generous; a predilection for grandeur; a whirlwind of energy; must be an excellent comedian.
- Mary Debenham: Female, 25-40. An English beauty; a governess, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardness about her person.
Elkhart Civic Theatre auditions are open to all, and no fees are charged for participation in any ECT production.
