Warsaw Community Schools Announces Four Holiday Concerts

WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools’ students are performing four holiday concerts.
WCHS Orchestra Holiday Concert
Warsaw Community Schools’ orchestra programs will perform an orchestra holiday concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center. Attendees will hear traditional carols, “Winter” from Vivaldi’s famous “Four Seasons,” and remixes of selections from “The Nutcracker” such as “The Sugar Plum Fairy.”
The concert will feature the sixth grade orchestra, Edgewood and Lakeview Middle Schools’ orchestras, obbligato strings, and philharmonic orchestra.
The orchestras are under the direction of Angela Dieleman. The concert is free of charge.
WCHS Choral Department Holiday Concert
The WCHS Choral Department will present their December Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the PAC. The concert will feature the five high school choirs performing a wide variety of seasonal favorites, and a performance by Edgewood and Lakeview choirs, under the direction of Jennifer Cooksey. The concert will close with the traditional singing of “Silent Night” along with sign language.
The concert is free of charge. Freewill donations will be accepted for the department. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted for Toys for Tots. The high school choirs are under the direction of Josh Hren and accompanied by Lawrence Evans.
WCHS Band Christmas Concert
WCHS’s band will perform a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in the PAC.
The WCHS wind ensemble, concert band, and percussion ensemble will be featured. This musical portrait of the season offers something for everyone. Admission is free and donations are accepted for the WCHS band department.
Winter Dance Concert
WCS dance students will perform their winter dance concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the PAC. The public will experience the excitement and tap their feet to many varieties of dance styles, including tap, modern, jazz, and choreography featuring American Sign Language.
The concert is free and all are invited to attend.
For its second season, the Winter Dance Concert also features the Kids Dance, Warsaw! outreach program. Over 70 second and third-grade students from Claypool, Leesburg, and Washington STEM elementary schools will perform in the PAC auditorium with the Honors Select Ensemble class. At this time, KDW! is ran solely by volunteers and donations to provide free opportunities to WCS children.
Freewill donations will help provide future student opportunities within the entire WCS system to bring the joy of dance to the community.
