WARSAW — ’Tis the season to sip on hot cocoa, eat gingerbread cookies and, best of all, watch tons of Christmas movies from the comfort of your couch. Very few things are as satisfying as curling up with your loved ones to enjoy a flick, but if you’re in the mood to spread some Christmas cheer and enjoy a good love story (even if it’s totally unrealistic), then we’ve got you covered.
“Ghosts of Girlfriends’ Past” is a fusion of A Christmas Carol with a traditional romantic comedy. Connor Mead dumps three girlfriends at the same time, so when he goes home to attend his brother’s wedding, he has a singular goal in mind: score with the only bridesmaid he has somehow managed to miss. But the ghost of his departed Uncle Wayne — who taught him to love ’em and then leave ’em — has another goal in mind: find true love. This will be a tough assignment, one that will require many past girlfriends and the ghosts of his past, present and future.
“Serendipity” begins at Christmastime in a New York department store, where two people meet by chance — while shopping for their “significant others” — and are immediately attracted to each other. After spending a romantic evening together, they reluctantly part, secretly hoping that fate will reunite them some day.
“The Holiday” is about two women, one from America and one from Britain, who swap homes at Christmastime after bad breakups with their boyfriends. Each woman finds romance with a local man but realizes that the imminent return home may end the relationship.
In “Last Christmas,” nothing seems to go right for young Kate, but things soon take a turn for the better when she meets Tom — a handsome charmer who seems too good to be true. As the city transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, Tom and Kate’s growing attraction turns into the best gift of all — a Yuletide romance. This film is Inspired by George Michael’s popular holiday song.
