PIERCETON — A Pierceton man was recently arrested after allegedly sending threats to a woman via text messages and voicemails.

Brian A. Browning, 38, 6301 E. Old Road 30, Pierceton, is charged with intimidation, a level 6 felony; and harassment, a class B misdemeanor.

On Aug. 21, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a location in Pierceton regarding a woman receiving several threatening text messages and voicemails from Browning.

According to court documents, the woman said Browning left several items, including his vehicle, at her residence after moving out. She told the deputy she tried to schedule a time for Browning to retrieve his belongings but that he never came to take them. The woman decided to report Browning’s vehicle as abandoned and had it towed, which upset Browning. Since the towing occurred, Browning sent the woman threatening text messages.

The woman showed the deputy several text messages and voicemails she received from Browning. In the messages, Browning threatened to harm or kill the woman and her family.

During the investigation, the woman received a phone call from Browning. In that call, the deputy heard Browning threaten to kill the woman. Browning later contacted Kosciusko County dispatch and claimed the woman was having another man call and threaten her while pretending to be him. The call was forwarded to the responding deputy, who noticed Browning’s voice matched the one used in the threatening voicemails to the woman.

Browning was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 22, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
