AKRON — The youngest and newest member of the Tippecanoe Valley School Board will serve as its president for 2023.
The board reorganized at a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12, and voted in David Lash as president. Board members also picked Adam Heckaman to be vice president and Todd Hoffman to be secretary.
Lash, Hoffman and Tom Bauters were also sworn in by Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Deputy Treasurer Melinda Kamp. All three were reelected to their seats in the fall.
In other business Thursday, the board:
- Reorganized the TVSC Board of Finance for 2023, putting Lash and Hoffman in the same roles on it that they’re serving on the regular board.
- Approved conflict of interest statements for Heckaman, Hoffman and Aaron Zolman, who have family members that work for TVSC.
- Heard that a vote on approving Darren Parker as Tippecanoe Valley High School boys’ golf coach would be during the regular school board meeting on Monday, Jan. 16, at Burket Educational Center. If approved, Parker would be returning to the position after an absence. He currently is a golf coach at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School.
- Approved keeping its regular meeting times the same as 2022, starting at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Meetings will mainly occur at Mentone Elementary School, with the first few meetings of the year at other buildings as the board will tour them then.
- Heard that Kaylynn Miller, Makynna Rentschler, Caroline Stump, Katelyn Stump and Abby Bowers will be honored for receiving academic awards at Monday’s meeting.
- Heard that The Skillman Corp., the construction management company for the upcoming TVHS renovation, would give an update on the project at Monday’s meeting.
- Heard that Burket teacher Micah Lukens would give his annual update to the board on the school at Monday’s meeting.
That meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Burket.
