BURKET — Five Tippecanoe Valley High School students were recognized for their academic feats at Monday, Jan. 16’s Tippecanoe Valley School Board meeting.
Juniors Kaylynn Miller, Makynna Rentschler and twins Caroline and Katelyn Stump and senior Abigail Bowers were honored at the board’s regular meeting in the Burket Educational Center.
The first four were recognized as part of the Indiana Association of School Principals’ Rising Stars of Indiana Class of 2024. TVHS Principal Brandon Kresca noted he “with (guidance) counselor input” can chose four students each year to recognize for that distinction.
Kresca mentioned those girls “are at the top of their class, exemplary role models, and involved in numerous extracurricular organizations, participate in community service, and … are leaders at our school.”
Bowers, who serves as the TVSC Board senior class representative, was recognized as an IASP Indiana Academic All-Star nominee.
Kresca picked her for that position, through which she will go up against other Indiana high school seniors, with the IASP ultimately selecting 40 statewide All-Stars and 50 regional ones.
He said he chose her based on her academics, extracurricular participation, community service and leadership. Bowers was one of the Valley IASP Rising Stars of Indiana as a junior.
