WARSAW — The Warsaw Redevelopment Commission approved a study proposal for the downtown area at its Monday, Feb. 13, meeting.
A comprehensive study of the downtown Warsaw area has not been done since 2002; the commission decided it was definitely time to reevaluate the area as there have been many changes within the past 20 years.
The study will indicate what changes were positive for the area and those that were negative. The contract includes an action plan for future developments and changes based on the evaluation.
The study will be paid for through the Redevelopment Central TIF district funds in the amount of $27,500.
A proposal for Shelden Street improvements through Engineering Resources Inc., which is completing the city hall project, was also discussed.
The developer would like to do roadwork on the development area and side streets, provide sidewalks and striping on the roadway from the roundabout to SR 15 and complete a study to determine if streetlights can be installed along the area.
Adjustments may be made to the contract depending on the quote for street lighting, but the commission moved to approve the proposal.
The commission recognized Richard Snodgrass for his 15 years of service and contributions and Jeremy Mullins for his years of service representing Warsaw Community Schools.
The commission also approved:
- An amendment to the airport road lift station and force main agreement, increasing the contract amount by $11,200.
- Acquisition for the last parcel needed for the Anchorage Road right-of-way project, totaling over $30,000.
The next Warsaw Redevelopment Commission meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Warsaw City Hall, in the council chambers.
