CLAYPOOL — A Claypool teenager was recently arrested after allegedly breaking into a home and stealing a video game console.
Logan Daniel Peconga, 18, 2502 E. 700S, Claypool, is charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; theft, a level 6 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On March 14, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a burglary at a Claypool residence. The home’s residents said an Xbox video game console and vehicle keys to a 2003 Saab were missing.
According to court documents, the residents said they believed Peconga broke into the home and stole the items. A relative of Peconga’s said Peconga asked about two of the home’s residents being at work. The residents also said Peconga had stolen items from their home in the past.
The deputy noticed a window screen had been removed from the home. Physical evidence found at the scene also tied the incident to Peconga.
It was later discovered Peconga traded the Xbox console at Warsaw’s GameStop and a relative went to the business and purchased the console to give it back to its owner. Peconga traded the console on March 14 for $154 and signed a ticket showing he completed the transaction.
Peconga told the deputy he was contacted by an individual regarding a debt he owed. He said he took the individual to the Claypool residence and the individual forced his way inside the home to steal the Xbox. Peconga also said he drove the individual to GameStop in the 2003 Saab without permission.
Peconga has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
