Debra Collier’s School Of Dance Awards Student Scholarships
News Release
WARSAW — The recipients of 19th annual Memorial Scholarships were recently announced at Debra Collier’s School of Dance.
The scholarships were developed by the studio to offer opportunities to students through financial assistance and also encourage students through the recognition of their efforts.
The scholarships are named in memory of former students Ashleigh Bruner, Shay Dixon, Jacquline Egolf, Melissa Eigenberg Vogt, Emma Martin, Lori Rigsby, Madison Shipley, and Payton Slaymaker, and former dance parent Cindy Crane.
Each recipient submitted a reflective essay on a challenge they overcame or a goal they achieved. The theme asked students to describe the challenge, how they accomplished their goal, and what aspect made them feel proud of themselves. The recipients, Charlotte Augustine, Hailey Borsa, Maelle Hauck, and Mackenzie Langhorn each received a scholarship for one class for the 2023-2024 annual season.
“As I read the reports,” explained instructor Tammy Seibold, “I saw a consistent theme of perseverance. These students have faced hard challenges, but they never give up. Many mentioned this was something dance has also taught them. Knowing what our studio offers these students through dance is the best way I can think of to honor the memories of those that inspired our scholarships.”
Debra Collier’s School of Dance has been educating students since 1977 and offers a wide variety of classes for dancers of all ages and levels. The studio provides many opportunities for students to develop their interest in dance, including performance groups and monthly themes. Registration is currently open for the studio’s summer session.
