WARSAW — The South Shore tax increment financing district in Syracuse has officially been established after the Kosciusko County Redevelopment Commission adopted a confirmatory resolution on Thursday, May 11.
Prior to the resolution’s approval, a public hearing was held, with no one speaking for or against the establishment of the TIF.
The district will be created at the site of the former South Shore Golf Course.
Also during the meeting, Doug Hanes, secretary of the redevelopment commission, was appointed to help the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation with the establishment of a TIF district in the Etna Green area. Hanes will assist with the reviewing and interviewing of builders for this project.
Andrew Mouser with Baker Tilly, who attended the meeting virtually; and County Redevelopment Commission Attorney Adam Turner also discussed with commission members upcoming changes following house bills Governor Eric Holcomb signed on Thursday, April 27.
They said that some bills implicate less flexibility when it comes to the redevelopment budgets, which could prove to be an impending challenge for the commission in the future.
The county redevelopment commission’s next meeting is on July 13.
