Indiana Adds New Jobs Causing Unemployment To Drop

INDIANAPOLIS — A total of 14,200 additional jobs added into the private sector causes Indiana’s unemployment rate to drop from 3.1% to 3%.
Indiana saw growth in the following businesses, according to the Department of Workforce Development:
- leisure and hospitality
- manufacturing sectors
- private educational and health
- professional and business services
- trade, transportation and utilities
- financial activities
The unemployment rate had previously stood still at 3.1% for the past four months.
Indiana is at an employment peak with private employment reaching a total of 2,845,100 jobs.
The national rate of labor force participation is still at 62.6% while Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported Indiana’s rate to have increased to 63.6%. This comes as a result of the total residents either employed or looking for employment increasing more than 7,000 in comparison to the prior month.
