MILFORD — A Milford man was recently arrested for fleeing from a police officer during a high-speed vehicle pursuit.
Johnny T. Jones III, 56, 313 E. 4th St., Milford, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and reckless driving, a class C misdemeanor.
On April 22, a Milford Police officer responded to a report of a vehicle possibly broken down near a railroad crossing. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer found a vehicle with its brake lights activated and noticed its driver was asleep. The driver was later identified as Jones.
According to court documents, while speaking with Jones, the officer noticed a grinder typically used for marijuana inside Jones’ vehicle. When he was asked about the grinder, Jones allegedly began to put his vehicle in drive and said he was going to pull over to the side of the road.
The officer told Jones several times to stay parked, but Jones disregarded the officer’s commands and left in his vehicle.
During the pursuit in Milford, Jones’ vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph. The officer lost sight of Jones’ vehicle in the area of East CR 1100N and North CR 300E, with the pursuit being terminated due to safety precautions.
Jones was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 8, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
