Basset and Koldyke Sworn In As Warsaw Firefighters

WARSAW — Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer swore in two firefighters, Chad Basset and Matt Koldyke, at the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Friday, June 16.
A bid of $824,729.73 from Phend and Brown was approved for improvement of six roadways. Warsaw Superintendent of Public Works Dustin Dillon said he hoped for the project to begin its work in early fall, if not earlier.
The project will affect the following roads:
- Center Street from Lake to Indiana.
- Buffalo Street from Market to Main.
- County Farm Road from Solomon Drive to CR 200S.
- Ranch Road from the railroad tracks to Solomon Drive.
- Country Club Road from the bridge over the ditch to Winona Lake down to the corporate limits.
- Jefferson Street from Bronson Road to Argonne Road.
Change orders were also approved by Board of Works members for the Center Lake Pavilion renovation.
Order one, for a total of $18,690.64, will go to updating Cottage Watchman and ALLPRO equipment. Order two, for a total of $11,413.86, will be for updating signage and appropriate lighting, as well as where the power will be coming in from. Order three, will be a total of $10,063, and that will be designated for the porch structural work which needs to be done including siding and framing. The last and final order, will be a total of $21,816.53, to add a fire barrier protection and install thinner insulation.
The total net increase for this project was $61,984.03.
Other business that was approved:
- The Kosciusko County Community Fair Parade road closure request from Fort Wayne Street to Center Street to McKinley Street.
- LifeTouch Ministries’ Ungarage Sale street closure.
- Main Street Warsaw’s Third Friday road closure request for Thursday, July 21, from Market Street from Wood Street to Tamarack Road.
