WARSAW — Warsaw has purchased the former Marsh property.
This was finalized at the Warsaw Redevelopment Commission meeting on Monday, July 10.
With the approval of the purchase agreement, Warsaw Community and Economic Development Director Jeremy Skinner brought forward a memorandum of understanding with the company Ram Development to the commission.
The MOU will give Ram a year to market the property at 500 S. Buffalo St., to companies nationwide to hopefully bring a neighborhood retail store, or grocer to the building. This MOU will also give the city full control to approve or veto whatever Ram development brings to the commissioners for consideration.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer spoke of the agreement being a “fantastic opportunity for the town to potentially restore what was lost with Marsh and give the residents of that area what they have been asking for.”
“This is a great property in this community, and we have to do our part to hopefully come up with the proper and, hopefully, retail use for our community,” he added.
Other business approved at the meeting included:
- The resolution for the Gatke Allocation Area bringing a new TIF district.
- A memorandum of understanding with Laporte Equities LLC. stating the city will finish Petro Drive.
