Michigan City Manufacturer Adding 75 Jobs
News Release
MICHIGAN CITY — Vanair Manufacturing Inc. is investing $8.3 million to expand their plant by adding a 100,000-square-foot building near their headquarters in Michigan City. This expansion will allow for the creation of 75 jobs. Vanair Manufacturing Inc. has been manufacturing mobile power products in the LaPorte County area for over 50 years.
In a press release, the company mentioned the expansion will not only provide the much needed increased operation capacity but will also “facilitate further vertical integration and the incorporation of advanced fabrication equipment.”
Vanair is the employer of 200 across their two facilities in Michigan City, and with the expansion they will create 75 more job opportunities.
The new building is being constructed by the LaPorte County-based J. Shoffner General Contractor Inc. Construction is predicted to be complete within the fourth quarter.
An Economic Revitalization Area and a statement of benefits for the project have been approved by the LaPorte County Council. However, specific details are not yet available.
As of now, it is unclear if the Indiana Economic Development Corp. is providing any incentives to the company for the latest expansion, since the company was awarded $200,000 in tax credits in 2018 for a investment that created 25 new jobs.
