WARSAW — A Pierceton man was arrested for allegedly stealing over $9,000 worth of vehicle parts from a Warsaw business.
Billy Jack Fairchild, 38, 3020 Wooster Road, Pierceton, is charged with theft and sentence enhancement theft, both level 6 felonies; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On July 28, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a theft report at Mike Gill Auto Parts. The officer spoke with Fairchild, who said he entered the business with an intake manifold in his backpack. He told the officer there had been a misunderstanding.
According to court documents, an employee said Fairchild was looking at several vehicles when he removed a manifold from a Chevrolet Cobalt and placed it in his backpack.
Upon finding the manifold in Fairchild’s backpack, the employee also found other stolen auto parts in Fairchild’s tool box. The parts were from additional vehicles in the business’s lot. An itemized report of the stolen items totaled $9,609.44.
Fairchild was previously convicted of theft in Kosciusko County in June 2017.
Fairchild has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
