Gasaway Arrested For Stealing UTV

WARSAW — A Warsaw man with prior theft convictions was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a UTV and a set of boat keys.
Daven Paul Gasaway, 26, 5774 N. 2nd St., Warsaw, is charged with two counts of theft and theft with a prior conviction, all level 6 felonies; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 8, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of a stolen UTV near North Webster. The UTV was reported stolen on July 28.
A KCSO detective said two men, one of which was Gasaway, entered a wooded area.
According to court documents, a K-9 unit found Gasaway, who told officers he was driving the UTV. Upon searching Gasaway’s person, officers found an ignition with a set of keys for a boat. Gasaway said he stole the ignition and keys from a boat in Syracuse.
Gasaway has prior convictions for theft in Elkhart and Whitley Counties.
Gasaway was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 8, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
