Southern Indiana Hospital To Stop Delivering Babies
Staff Report
INDIANAPOLIS — No New Year’s babies will be expected at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. The southern Indiana hospital announced in August that it will stop delivering babies as of Jan. 1, 2024.
Hospital officials indicated the decision was based on a declining number of deliveries, according to various media sources. Seventy babies were delivered in 2022, and the hospital anticipated delivering just 38 this year.
The hospital will continue to offer emergency delivery services, according to reports, but otherwise patients could obtain delivery care at four other hospitals within an hour’s drive of Tell City.
