Six Injured In Vehicle, Horse-And-Buggy Crash

MILLERSBURG — Six people were injured Saturday, Aug. 19, in a vehicle vs. horse-and-buggy crash. The crash was at CR 40 and CR 37, near Millersburg.
Karen Miller, 30, Millersburg, suffered head injuries and was flown to Parkview Regional Medial Center. Miller was a passenger in the horse-and-buggy. Also injured from the buggy was a 7-year-old male, and two 4-year-old females. They all suffered scrapes and were take to Goshen Hospital. Randy Miller, 31, driver of the horse-and-buggy was taken to Goshen Hospital but was listed as not having any injuries.
Also injured was the driver of the vehicle, Andrea Marchand, 32, Goshen, who complained of pain, along with a 12-year-old male who complained of pain and an 8-year-old female who suffered scrapes. All three were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
The 12-year-old male horse was killed.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports Marchand was traveling westbound on CR 40 in a 2017 Jeep Compass when she disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of CR 37. he Jeep collided with the horse-and-buggy that was southbound on CR 37, on the driver’s side. The vehicle also struck the horse.
The crash is still under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
