WARSAW — Two firefighters were sworn in at the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Friday, Sept. 1.

After the swearing in, Logan Keener and Tristan Pass were surrounded by their family as well as other firefighters to celebrate their becoming a part of the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.

Also at the meeting, Warsaw City Councilwoman Diane Quance was sworn in to become an official member of the board. She replaces Jeff Grose. Quance thanked the mayor for the opportunity to be a part of the board and said she felt prepared to do so after been given the opportunity to serve on several other boards and commissions.

In other business at the meeting:

• The city will be entering a contract with Wellable, an app designed to help motivate wellness and fitness in the workplace, for city employees.
• The city approved a road closure request for the Native American gathering from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 on North Indiana Street from Main Street to Center Street.
• The city approved another road closure request for Family Safety Day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, of Canal Street from North Indiana to east of the parking lots.
• The board approved WWFT acquiring an app named “Freedom Fire” to help cut down on radio traffic.
• The city entered into an agreement with Language Matters for cultural sensitivity training.
• The City entered into an agreement with The Bowling Alley for the city employee holiday party.
• The planning department was given approval to accept a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission for the Creative Convergence Early Action grant.
• The Warsaw Police Department was given approval to apply for two grants, with one being the Stop Arm Violation Enforcement grant and the other being the Comprehensive Hoosier Highway Injury Reduction Program.
