Undefeated Cougars Crush Triton
NEW CARLISLE – It was a record-setting night for New Prairie Friday.
The Class 4-A No. 6 Cougars throttled Triton 62-0 in a Northern State Conference contest.
New Prairie moves to 6-0 for the first time in program history. The 62 points, which all came in the first half Friday night, also tied a school record.
The Cougars, who have now outscored their six foes 252-42 this season, led 28-0 after the opening quarter. New Prairie scored on its’ first three offensive plays of the game en route to improving to 4-0 in the NSC.
Drake Dierdorf had three touchdowns to lead the Cougars. New Prairie, which beat Triton 56-17 last year, also scored on an interception return and a punt return.
Quarterback Cole Creighbaum passed for 126 yards in the first half for Triton before leaving with a possible hamstring injury.
Jayden Mosier was the bright spot for the Trojans with four receptions for 117 yards.
Triton drops to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the NSC with its’ fifth straight loss. The Trojans have been outscored by Bremen, Glenn and New Prairie 154-13 in its’ last three games.
Triton hosts LaVille in NSC action next Friday night.
