New Paris Man Suffers Severe Arm Injury

ELKHART COUNTY — Douglas Kirkdorffer, 62, New Paris, suffered an amputated right arm in a two-vehicle collision this morning, Thursday, Sept. 7. The crash was at 4:45 a.m. at CR 42 and CR 17, northwest of New Paris.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports Jordan Graber, 28, Nappanee, was eastbound in a 2025 Subaru WRX on CR 42 approaching CR 17, when he failed to stop a the intersection. Graber’s vehicle struck Kirkdorffer’s 2015 Chevrolet Traverse on the driver’s side.
After impact Kirkdorffer’s vehicle went off the east side of CR 17 and rolled over.
Kirkdorffer was transported by ambulance to Goshen Hospital.
Graber, who was not injured, was cited for disregarding a stop sign causing a collision.
The crash is under investigation.
