New Health Clinic Opening At The Rescue Mission In Fort Wayne
News Release
FORT WAYNE — Alliance Health Centers and The Rescue Mission have announced the opening of a new clinic at 404 E. Washington Blvd. in Fort Wayne. The new clinic, located inside The Rescue Mission, will offer primary care and behavioral health services. The clinic will have a ribbon cutting and public open house at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5.
Alliance Health Centers is a nonprofit community health center and Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike. Its first location opened in December of 2020 at 2700 Lafayette St., Suite 110, Fort Wayne, and currently offers primary care, behavioral health, and obstetrics/gynecological services.
“Here at Alliance, we are really passionate about helping our patients reach their personal goals when it comes to achieving and maintaining their health,” said Dr. Nikki King, chief executive officer of Alliance Health Centers. “In order to help our patients meet those goals, we rely heavily on amazing community partners like The Rescue Mission and Parkview Health to help us think creatively about how to use our existing resources to overcome barriers to care. It’s in that spirit of collaboration that the dream for the new clinic was born, and we couldn’t be more excited to expand in order to continue to serve the people of Fort Wayne.”
The Rescue Mission is a Christian-based nonprofit that exists to provide a home for the homeless, food for the hungry and hope for their future. Established in 1903, The Rescue Mission has been providing hope to the homeless and marginalized for over 120 years.
“At The Rescue Mission we strive to provide our community with care, love, and dignity,” said Pastor Thomas McArthur, president and CEO of The Rescue Mission. “This new clinic will revolutionize the way we can care for those we serve and provide a level of care not previously available in the community. We will be able to provide someone with all the services they would need in one building. Removing massive barriers previously in place for the homeless and marginalized in our community.”
To better support patients at the new location, Alliance Health Centers’ staff will have specialized training and education in working with unhoused populations, while continuing to offer primary care and behavioral health for all ages. “I am looking forward to continuing to break down barriers to care for our most vulnerable populations. This new location offers access to all in a centralized location,” said nurse practitioner Kirby Johnson. “Access to primary care and chronic disease management can have a positive impact on an individual’s quality of life for them to be able to achieve their desired goals.”
Alliance Health Centers offers a sliding-fee-scale discount for services, available to those who qualify below 200% of the federal poverty level and will not turn away anyone for inability to pay.
“We are excited to continue to grow Alliance Health Centers, while meeting the needs of our patients. Our goal is to make quality care accessible for all patients. In creating this new clinic space, Kirby Johnson, NP, Brenda Hoffman, PA, and their team will be able to make an impactful change to community health in Downtown Fort Wayne,” said Medical Director Dr. Eric Shoemaker.
