Known for luminous oil and pastel paintings, award-winning artist Susan Russell works directly from life whenever possible, producing plein-air landscapes, still- lifes, and portraits. Her studio is located on Main Street in Milford, where she also completes commissioned paintings.

Through both formal and informal education, academic training and fieldwork, Susan has spent many years studying the history and craft of painting. She has been selling her artwork for over 20 years, and leads workshops in drawing and painting, as well as poetry. While completing her fine arts degree through Indiana University South Bend, she was awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Award and Fine Art Scholarship.

Susan’s involvement in the Midwest academics/arts community has included a number of best of show and first place awards in local and regional competitions, exhibitions at the Midwest Museum, Century Center, Minnetrista Cultural Center, Honeywell, Indiana Plein- air Painters, Hoosier Salon and others, as well as recognition in the recently published “Hoosier Painters of the 21st Century.”
