Barbara Ellen Richardson, age 84, of Milford, passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at 12:36 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1939, the daughter of Verl A. and Irene F. (May) Zartman, in Milford. On Aug. 31, 1958, she married Wayne Richardson.

Barbara owned and operated Richardson Realty and JW’s Drive In, both in Milford, for many years. She was a volunteer emergency medical technician with Milford EMS and a member of the Christian Church of Milford. Barbara loved to cook and prepared many funeral dinners at the church. She was especially known for her peanut butter pie.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wayne Richardson, of Milford; three sisters, Judith Gilland, of Milford, Jennie (Don) Blodgett, of Warsaw, and Nona Bliton, of Warsaw; children, Kathy Veach, of Milford, John (Deb) Richardson, of Goshen, and Terry Richardson, of Florida; four grandchildren, Jonathan Shaw, of Milford, Justin Carpenter, of Indianapolis, Amanda (Jerry) Anacleto, of Milford, and Jonathon Richardson, of Muncie; 11 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Bentley, Lukas, Mariella, Alejandro, John, Jaxon, Sofia, Austin, Rylee, and Wyatt; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Nancy (Jack) Linville and Betty (Bernie) Cannon.

A funeral service will be held in Barbara’s honor at noon Friday, Oct. 20, at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W. 900N, Milford. Pastor Steve Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
