AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley School Board has gone over its annual contract with the Tippecanoe Valley Classroom Teachers’ Association.
At a special meeting at the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Administration Office on Thursday, Nov. 2, board members heard the tentative terms of the contract.
TVSC Superintendent Blaine Conley noted the agreement called for teachers with bachelor’s degrees to have raises in a range of $400 to $1,200. Those with master’s degrees would have raises between $800 to $2,400.
“The range on our starting (teachers’) salary is $44,175 (on the bottom end). The top of the salary schedule is $78,250,” said Conley.
He noted insurance costs for teachers are set to rise by 1%, with Board Member Tom Bauters noting he was pleased that the increase stayed so low.
If approved by the board at another special meeting set to occur soon at a yet to be announced date, the salary changes will “take effect on Nov. 24,” said Conley. Teachers will get backpay to the beginning of the 2023-24 school year.
