A panel of local officials who work in the criminal justice field, with domestic violence violence victims, and those who seek justice for victims will lead a discussion on domestic violence awareness that is open to the public.

With October noted as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office along with The Beaman Home, Ivy Tech Community College and the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition have joined forces to present a Community Resource Fair Event aimed at breaking the silence of domestic violence. The event is taking place at the Warsaw Ivy Tech campus from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., informational booths pertaining to child wellness, mental health, local transportation options, safety and nutrition will be available to the public. At the same time, a health fair providing screenings for cholesterol, glucose, anemia and blood pressure is to be open to the public.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., a panel of local experts in domestic violence will be seated and providing information and answering questions. The panel is to include Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton, State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki, Winona Lake Police Chief Paul Schmitt, The Beaman Home Outreach Advocate April Slone and Kosciusko County Superior Court Judge Joe V. Sutton.
