NAPPANEE — Mark your calendars and prepare to experience the magic of the season as Miracles at Main and Market Street Committee hosts an unforgettable Christmas celebration in downtown Nappanee.
The city’s annual holiday season tradition, the Miracles at Main and Market parade, will once again take to the streets of the Elkhart County city at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. The festive evening will be filled with a dazzling parade, a heartwarming Christmas tree lighting ceremony, live music, and delightful treats, including hot chocolate and cookies.
Following the Miracles at Main and Market holiday parade in Nappanee, the city’s longtime mayor, Phil Jenkins, will once again read the Christmas story from the stage underneath the downtown pavilion.
Lineup for the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Nappanee Elementary School, 755 E. Van Buren St., from where the procession will step off at 7 p.m.
This year’s parade route has been changed from previous years. It will exit the school parking lot and travel south on Jackson Street, from which it will turn west onto Market Street (U.S. 6). It will continue on Market Street to the town square before turning south onto South Main Street, then right on to West Lincoln Street where the parade will continue to and conclude at city hall.
At the conclusion of the parade, everyone is invited to come to the downtown pavilion, located on the southwest corner of Market and Clark streets. Everyone will be given a candle to hold prior to the singing of “Silent Night” at approximately 7:40 p.m. Jenkins will read the Christmas story and then the official lighting of the city’s Christmas tree will occur.
There will be a live nativity scene at the pavilion. Additional entertainment will be provided, along with a free cookies and hot chocolate.
“Our Christmas celebration is a time-honored tradition that brings our community together in the spirit of love, joy, and togetherness,” said Alison Stair, chairman of Miracles at Main and Market Street Committee. “We are excited to share this magical evening with everyone and create lasting memories that will carry us through the holiday season.”
