Gomez Receives Goshen Health’s Gardener Award
News Release
GOSHEN — Ashlyn Gomez, phlebotomist, was awarded Goshen Health’s Gardener Award for providing extraordinary care to one of her patients.
The patient’s wife, Catherine Ragsdale, wrote in her nomination, “My husband is very afraid of needles and when Ashlyn had to put an IV in, he was very nervous and anxious… She did such an amazing job that all I had to do was hold his hand for support. Ashlyn talked him through the entire thing. She was very calm and supportive and just talked and talked with both of us. She definitely made everything a lot better for him. I always say ‘treat people like you would like to be treated or you would like your family member to be treated’ – and Ashlyn did just that… I will repeat it 10,000 times: she did an extraordinary job, and she is so appreciated!!! Thank you for all you do! Never ever let anyone steal that amazing talent away from you!!!”
“Being nominated by a patient’s spouse is very humbling and heartwarming to me,” said Gomez. “I’ve been in health care for about six years now, and I wouldn’t have stayed this long if not for my patients. I treat them all like I would like my abuelita or mother to be treated –with the outmost respect and consideration. This award means so much to me.”
The Gardener Award recognizes the exceptional contributions of Goshen Health Colleagues in helping the organization fulfill its mission of improving the health of the community by providing innovative and outstanding care.
