ANGOLA — The Hatchery, a community favorite Angola-based restaurant, has announced their upcoming closure after over 30 years of operation. The owners, Heather and Mark Adam Meston, took to Facebook to break the news, citing increasing food costs and staffing difficulties as contributing factors to their ultimate decision.

“With a heavy heart, we regret to announce that on January 13, 2024, The Hatchery Restaurant will be closing after three decades in business. This decision has been a challenging one for our family. The ever-increasing costs of food, the persistent struggle to find a workforce, and the ongoing battle to maintain our business have led us to this point.
In the spirit of gratitude and commitment, we look forward to finishing this holiday season out strong at The Hatchery. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our dedicated staff, the backbone of our business. Daily interactions with our loyal customers and the camaraderie of our work family will be dearly missed.
As we bid farewell to The Hatchery, we embrace the prospect of a new chapter. Our focus will shift towards our other business venture, Elizabeth Street Kitchen, with exciting plans for expansion into catering and a food truck. This strategic transition is not just about business; it’s about fostering a better work-life balance. By dedicating more time to Elizabeth Street Kitchen, we aim to create space for meaningful moments with out children and the pursuit of our culinary passion.

Their new venture, Elizabeth Street Kitchen, allows customers to purchase pre-made dinners ranging from $20-$30 depending on the quantity. The menu includes recipes such as Tuscan garlic chicken and cheesy sausage and potato crock pot dinners. The Mestons have expressed interest in expanding into catering and a food truck.
