NAPPANEE — Registration is now open for “Girls on the Run” an after-school program like no other. It is for girls in third through fifth grade, and will take place at both Nappanee and Woodview elementary schools in Nappanee from March through May.
Twice per week for 10 weeks, girls will have fun, make friends, increase their physical activity levels and learn important life skills. Trained and caring coaches lead girls through interactive lessons and movement activities. The season ends with a celebratory 5K event.
Participating in “Girls on the Run” transforms girls’ lives by helping them increase their self-confidence, develop healthy relationships and feel good about themselves, inside and out. Ninety-seven percent of participants said they learned critical skills to manage emotions, resolve conflict, help others or make intentional decisions.
Registration is on a first-come, first served basis. The cost is $160 per girl, which includes all program costs, a T-shirt and water bottle. Financial aid is available for students who are eligible for free- or reduced-lunch programs. Additional financial assistance may be available on an individual basis. A request should be noted during the application process
The program is sponsored by The South Bend Clinic. Learn more and register at girlsontherunmichiana.org.
