SYRACUSE — A two car collision just west of Syracuse resulted in two drivers being transported by ambulance to area hospitals. The injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the intersection of CR 500E and CR 1100N, involving a gray, late-model Jaguar XF sedan and a white Toyota RAV4 compact SUV. According to an eyewitness at the scene, the Jaguar was southbound on 500E when it disregarded the stop sign at the crossroads. The westbound Toyota had stopped at the four-way stop and was proceeding into the intersection when it was struck by the other vehicle.
Both drivers were apparently alone in their vehicles when the accident occurred. The driver of the Jaguar was placed in a neck brace but was able to extract himself from the vehicle and on to a backboard for movement into an ambulance. The driver of the Toyota was moved from their vehicle to a separate ambulance on a mobile stretcher.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory was the responding unit first summoned to the scene. Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory was requested for EMT/ambulance support. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.
