Manchester High School Student Travels To D.C. For National Student Leadership Academy

FORT WAYNE — Manchester High School senior Braylon Judy, who was recently elected as the first Jobs for America’s Graduates Indiana Career Association president, traveled to Washington DC at the end of November for the National Student Leadership Academy to receive training for his new role. At the NSLA, he met with Congressional leaders, other Career Association state officers, and local chapter leaders while participating in experiential learning and networking.
“DC was an amazing experience,” said Judy. “Going in I had no idea where I was going to go as president. Now I have ideas and memories that I’ll never forget.”
JAG is a state-based national nonprofit organization sponsored by Brightpoint in northeast Indiana and funded by Northeast Indiana Works. JAG is a resiliency-building workforce program that helps students learn in-demand employability skills and provides a bridge to post-secondary education and career advancement opportunities through project-based learning, trauma-informed care, and employer engagement.
Brightpoint currently offers JAG in Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, and Whitley counties. It is a multi-year program for juniors and seniors at the following high schools: Columbia City, DeKalb, Heritage, Huntington North, Impact Institute (Kendallville), Manchester, New Haven, Northrop, North Side, Snider, South Side, and Wayne.
