PIERCETON — The Pierceton Town Council ended 2023 with oaths of office and the approval of several contracts with Washington Township.
During a Dec. 28 year-end meeting, oaths of office were given to Council Members Matt Brubaker, Glenn Hall, and Eric Trump; and Clerk-Treasurer Myra Mast. Hall and Trump are the council’s newest additions and will replace Janet Castle and Tom Barker, who chose not to seek re-election.
Brubaker and Pierceton Park Board’s Annie Espinoza both thanked Barker and Castle for their council service, with Brubaker commending Barker for his advice over the years.
“You are the epitome of giving to the town and listening to the people on their needs, wants, and gripes,” said Espinoza to Barker and Castle.
Prior to the oaths of office being administered, the council approved several contracts with Washington Township. The contracts were for the housing of fire apparatus at the Pierceton Community Building, the township providing fire service to the town, and park maintenance.
Council also approved a contract for 2024 legal services with Town Attorney Tammy Keirn, as well as a contract with Kosciusko Senior Services for use of the Pierceton Senior Center.
Council’s next regular meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the Pierceton Community Building.
