Fellowship Trained Hand Surgeon Joins Goshen Orthopedics

GOSHEN — The Goshen Health Board certified Hand Surgeon Scott Swanson, MD, who will join the staff at Goshen Orthopedics.
Swanson treats patients with a wide range of hand and wrist conditions, including fractures, ligament injuries, nerve and tendon injuries and dislocations. He will also provide care for patients with inflammatory disease and arthritis in the upper extremities.
Swanson was trained as a plastic surgeon, specialized in reconstructive burn surgery to help patients regain function and improve the cosmetic appearance of burn scars. He is also fellowship trained in microvascular surgery and nerve transfers.
“Dr. Swanson brings valuable experience and fellowship training in hand microsurgery to our orthopedic team,” said Randy Christophel, Goshen Health President and Chief Executive Officer. “His commitment to individualized care will help patients get back to sports, work, hobbies or activities they enjoy.”
Swanson earned a Doctor of Medicine degree, and a Bachelor of Arts in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado in Denver.
Swanson completed fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. His residency in plastic surgery was at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Ariz. He also completed a general surgery residency at Maricopa Integrated Health in System in Phoenix, Ariz.
