Area Police Reports
Elkhart County
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 6:34 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, CR 29 and CR 46, New Paris. Carson Joyce reported an unknown vehicle struck the back of his vehicle and left the scene of the crash.
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 9:33 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2700 block SE Lakeshore Drive, Macy. A deer feel through the ice. The caller stated her daughter called the DNR who told her they do not have any one on duty in Fulton County.
- 8:24 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 300 block North East Street, Kewanna. A caller reported being concerned for the safety of a dog in that area. The dog is outside with a dog house in a pen. The dog is normally an outside dog, but the dog pen is behind the house and you can see it from the road. An officer check and found the dog has shelter and a dog house and is all right.
- 7:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 8900 block SR 14, Akron. A resident texted the sheriff and reported someone was trying to hack into his computer. Officials spoke with the man who said he saw a name of an individual pop up on the internet and believed they were trying to hack into his internet. He reset his internet and their Wi-Fi went away. An officer arrived and showed the individual the devices connected to his internet which he stated were all his devices. Everything is fine at this time.
- 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 400 block East Phillips Street, Kewanna. Police were notified of a large dog loose and two puppies tied up in the yard. A welfare check on the puppies was requested. An officer spoke with the owner who reported his wife is going to get the large dog back in and the puppies only go out when needed. They are back inside.
- 4:18 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 300 block South Main Street, Rochester. A citizen reported the theft of handguns.
- 2:06 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 700 block East Fourth Street, Rochester. A caller requested assistance as she cannot get her door open on her house and she doesn’t like being locked in. An officer spoke with the woman and she stated she could not get her screen door open. The officer was able to get the door open for her and it is now working properly.
- 4:04 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 200 block East Elm Street, Kewanna. Smoke was seen coming from a residence. It is believed there is no one inside. There were no bystanders at this time except a female neighbor. All occupants were reported out of the home.
