WARSAW — An Atwood woman will serve seven years in prison for drug possession.
Charlene K. Marshall, 53, P.O. Box 88, Atwood, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony. Five additional criminal charges were all dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Marshall was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Feb. 12.
For possessing meth, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Marshall to seven years in the Indiana Department of Correction. He recommended Marshall for participation in Recovery While Incarcerated as part of her sentence.
At sentencing, Prosecutor Brad Voelz said Marshall took responsibility for possessing the drugs she had on her person and asked Reed to sentence her accordingly.
Reed noted Marshall’s prior criminal record.
On Oct. 6, 2022, an Indiana State trooper was traveling near Leesburg when he pulled a driver over for failing to signal a lane change in Warsaw. The driver was later identified as Marshall. During the traffic stop, law enforcement found 20.1 grams of meth.
Marshall told officers the meth belonged to someone else and that she was holding onto the drugs for the individual.
