Whitko Names Students Of The Month For February
News Release
LARWILL — The Whitko Community Schools system has named its Students of the Month for February.
Chaselynn Neer
Chaselynn Neer is Whitko Senior High’s student of the month.
High school teacher Laura Farlow said Chaselynn, who is a junior, is a “purposeful” learner.
“She wants to learn the skills for her future not for the grade,” said Farlow. “She always actively participates in class by sharing her insights and asking questions. Because she sets her education as a high priority, she is a model student.”
Hunter Long
Whitko Junior High’s student of the month is Hunter Long.
Eighth-grade teacher Mike Hanback said Hunter is a young man who quietly does his personal best all the time.
“He works hard, thinks deeply, collaborates with peers, all while being a good athlete and being a positive role model to others,” Hanback said.
Gabriella Griffith
Gabriella Griffith, a junior, is Whitko Career Academy’s student of the month.
She was nominated by Career Academy teacher Megan Lindsey.
“Gabi has been a great asset to the Business Education and Marketing program for the last year and a half. Being one of the returning students to the program, she has really stepped up to take a leadership role within the classroom this school year,” Lindsey said. “She has stood out with her attention to detail, as well as her ability to communicate information in presentations. She has been a big part of contributing to the success of many Tee-Shirt projects that have been completed by the class this fall. She has been a team leader on many apparel projects, showing that she can work well with others and ensure that things get done. There have been times where we have several projects going on at the same time, with hard deadlines that have to be met. When she is involved and leading a group, I know that she will make sure her group does what it takes to get it done on time and accurately. She has been a great student to have in the program, and I am excited to see what she will accomplish in the next year and a half.”
Remington Miller
South Whitley Elementary School’s student of the month is Remington Miller.
Remington was nominated by second-grade teacher Jennifer Craig.
“Remington is an amazing student to have in class,” Craig said. “I can always count on him to be helpful, kind and thoughtful to those around him. No matter what subject, he tries his hardest. He is a good example of being a friend to others and is a leader in the room. I am glad I get to work with him this year. Keep up the great work.”
Victor Meyo-Tecuatl
Victor Meyo-Tecuatl is Pierceton Elementary School’s student of the month.
The second-grader received two nominations: one from teacher Stephanie Henson and one from corporation translator Magda Smith.
“Victor is a joy to have in the classroom,” Henson and Smith wrote. “He is a kind friend and helpful classmate. Victor is a model student, especially in his cooperation with teachers and willingness to learn. He has a true love of learning and is excited to share that with those around him. Victor brightens the classroom with his fun personality, sense of humor and warm smile.”
Axel Odea
Whitko Early Learning Center’s student of the month is Axel Odea.
“Axel is a first-year preschool student who has worked very hard to meet his goals in the classroom,” teacher Katie Bromley said. “He has mastered potty training, added lots of new words to his vocabulary, learned to spell his name and write with purpose. He has made new friends in the classroom and is always kind to others. Axel has come into preschool wanting to learn new things, and he gives his best every day.”
