McGuire Arrested After Officers Find Drug Dealing Ledger In Vehicle

NAPPANEE — A Nappanee woman was arrested after officers found a ledger containing information about drug dealing in her vehicle.
Tamara Jean McGuire, 52, 655 S. Elm St., Nappanee, is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor.
On Feb. 14, a Nappanee Police officer was patrolling on SR 19 when he noticed a vehicle signal a turn but continue traveling straight. The vehicle also hugged the center line of the roadway while traveling slowly. The officer pulled the vehicle over and identified its driver as McGuire.
According to court documents, McGuire was exhibiting physical signs of intoxication. She also failed two field sobriety tests.
McGuire admitted to drinking meth earlier in the day. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 2.9 grams of meth and a ledger containing the names of about 30 buyers of drugs that ranged from meth to fentanyl. The ledger also contained names of drug dealers in the Nappanee area.
McGuire said the ledger belonged to someone else and she had it because she “asked for it.”
McGuire also had a bag containing 7.7 grams of meth on her person.
McGuire has already been arrested and released on bond. She has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. March 14, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
