Habitat For Humanity Holding Dedication Ceremony For Two Claypool Homes On March 28
Press Release
CLAYPOOL — Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County will hold a dedication ceremony to celebrate the completion of two homes in Claypool.
The community is invited to join Habitat for the ceremony at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at 409 S. Graceland Ave., Claypool.
Habitat broke ground on these two homes in March 2023, marking the first build season with two simultaneous builds. Now, the keys to these homes are ready to be handed over to their new homeowners, Courtney and Tracy.
“We are very grateful to all the donors, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who gave their time, talent and treasure to build these homes,” said Ben Logan, Habitat’s director. “Last year was a record volunteer year for Habitat with 283 volunteers donating over 4,800 hours. The majority of those hours were spent building these homes. We also had a record Women Build, with 117 participants giving over 700 hours within a single week.”
The dedication will begin with a short ceremony, including a blessing on the new homes and the handing over of the keys to each new homeowner. It will end with a chance to walk through each of the completed homes and meet the families. Parking is limited, so please consider carpooling.
“Building both of these homes at the same time was a big task,” said Logan. “With the affordability of housing so low right now, we are trying to build more and more homes each year, and we hope to break ground on another two homes in 2024. That is only possible with the community’s support in both funding and volunteers.”
Habitat is a non-profit organization that does not receive any government funds. Private donations and business sponsors go toward purchasing building supplies to build the homes.
