Sandra Sue Heck

Sandra Sue Heck, 80, North Webster, passed away at 7:17 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Born June 2, 1943, in Mishawaka, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Romayne (Coy) Shock. Sandy resided in North Webster, Fort Wayne, Huntertown, and Columbia City.

She grew up in North Webster and attended North Webster High School. On July 5, 1960, she married Carl “Al” Heck, who preceded her in death in 2014. She was employed with Avon, Potlatch Carton, Pepsi Cola, (retiring from Pepsi Cola in 1986), and Stephan Enterprises. She was also a real estate agent with Bohn and Grable. She was an active member of the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church where she enjoyed Bible study and United Women of Faith.

She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, solitaire, word searches, euchre, and never missed a New York Yankees game. She was an amazing home cook and loved regularly hosting extended family. Everyone was welcome at her table.

Sandy is survived by her children: Ryan Heck, North Webster; Steve Heck, Columbia City; Kim (Shane) Kennedy, Churubusco; and Joe (Karna) Heck, Columbia City; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great grandson; and brother: Larry Shock, North Webster. Along with her parents and husband, Sandy was preceded in death by an infant grandson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Deanna Strombeck officiating. Burial will take place at Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory of Sandy to Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.
