Evelyn Lucille Hamell
Evelyn Lucille Hamell, 91, of Winona Lake, Ind., and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1922, in Nokomis, Ill., to Wesley Melton Hardy and Edna (Buchholz) Hardy. On June 3, 1941, she was married to Ralph Everett Hamell. He preceded her in death.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 46 years where she was a homemaker and attended Christ’s Covenant Church of Warsaw. Evelyn worked for a number of years as a cook and housekeeper for Eli Lilly in Syracuse, Indiana.
She is survived by her two sons: Larry Dean (Mary) Hamell, DeKalb, Ill.; Lester Allen (Karen) Hamell, Kimmell, Ind.; four daughters: Joyce Jean (Ronald) Harris, Plymouth, Ind.; Janice Marie (Robert) Meyer, Waterloo, Ind.; Jo Ellen (Thomas) Wagner, Wabash, Ind.; and Jill Annette (Joseph) Chalk, Warsaw, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and her brother: Donald Hardy, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and one sister.
Her visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the funeral home and will be officiated by Pastor Rod Valentine. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
