Warsaw Man Arrested On Several Domestic Battery Charges
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a woman he injured over 10 years ago.
Gary David Jones, 35, 728 E. Clark St. Apartment C., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery with a prior conviction involving a prior victim, a level 5 felony.
On June 10, Warsaw Police officers responded to a 911 hangup at a residence. Upon arrival at the scene, officers saw a woman with dried blood and bruising on her face. The woman said everything was okay because Jones left. She also changed her story several times, struggling to recall the incident because she believed she either passed out or was knocked out. Jones was not at the scene when officers arrived.
According to court documents, the woman had bruises around her neck, on the bridge of her nose, and next to her right eye. The woman told officers that Jones put his hands around her neck and that she tried to defend herself from Jones.
When officers showed the woman a picture of her injuries, the woman appeared shocked by the images and said Jones hit her “more than I know.”
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies later located Jones and spoke with him about the incident. Jones admitted to having an altercation with the woman and remembered having his hand around the woman’s throat. He also allegedly said he threw the woman on the floor. Officers noticed redness around Jones’ neck.
Jones has a previous domestic battery conviction in Kosciusko County from June 13, 2013. The woman in this case was also the victim in the 2013 case.
Jones was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 10.
