Quarter Auction Supporting Beaman Home Nov. 9
Indiana Business Opportunity Partners is a local not-for-profit group that has several events throughout the year to support local charities. Recently, they held a quarter auction for Allowing Christ To Shine. With this quarter auction fundraiser they were able to raise $2,000 so A.C.T.S. can distribute more turkeys to families in need this upcoming holiday season.
They will be hosting the next fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds to support The Beaman Home. The Beaman Home aids victims of domestic violence.
Not familiar with quarter auctions? Here is how they work:
Auction tickets are available in advance for $5, or $7 at the door. The admission ticket will be exchanged for a numbered auction paddle. Guests may purchase more than one paddle, if they desire. Once the auction starts, any guest can “bid” on an item up for auction by paying the designated number of quarters for each participating paddle they are using and raise those paddles.
Once all quarters have been collected, a number is drawn by the auctioneer. When the number matches a guest’s paddle that is raised (meaning that they bid the appropriate amount of quarters), that guest has won the item. If a number is picked and that guest did not bid by paying their quarters, they follow the honor system and shout “no bid.” Numbers will continue to be picked until a winning number is called out.
Here is the bid schedule:
- Retail Value $10-$24.99 = 1 quarter
- Retail Value $25-$49.99 = 2 quarter bid
- Retail Value $50-$74.99 = 3 quarter bid
- Retail Value $74.99-$100 = 4 quarter bid
- No item will cost more than 4 quarters!
- Bring 3-4 rolls of quarters to maximize the FUN!
The event is IBOPS’s biggest of the year. They will hold a craft show and vendor fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The craft show is free for all ages to attend. The quarter auction will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (no children under 10). There will be approximately 100 items up for bid from the vendors and crafters. The items will be available for viewing for the entire event.
