Staff Report
ELKHART — A Nappanee woman was arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a student while she was working as a substitute teacher in Elkhart.
Autumn Rae Ringer, 25, 144 1/2 Meadows, Nappanee, is charged with child seduction, a level 6 felony.
On March 28, officers with the Elkhart Police Department received a report about Ringer having a sexual relationship with a student at Elkhart High School. Ringer was employed at the school at the time as a substitute teacher.
According to court documents, the student said they snuck out one night, with Ringer picking them up and bringing them to an apartment. However, they denied any sexual activity occurring.
Ringer said she had been a substitute since February and admitted to having sexual intercourse with a student, but said the student was 18 years old.
On April 17, an Elkhart detective reviewed information on Ringer’s phone. The phone contained nude images of Ringer and messages from Ringer discussing having sex with a student.
The student is under the age of 18.
Ringer was booked in the Elkhart County Correctional Complex on July 8.
