Voluntary Annexation Moves Forward In Milford
The public hearing in regards to the voluntary annexation of three parcels belonging to CTB — which are located east of PigTek in Milford — went without a hitch. The council received favorable letters from Van Buren Township and the Wawasee Community School Corporation about the annexation.
With no further public input, councilman Robert Cockburn motioned to move the voluntary annexation during Milford Town Council’s meeting Nov. 11. The motion passed. The voluntary annexation will appear on next month’s agenda to be voted on.
Prior to its approval, the council will also have to approve a fiscal plan. It was noted the town would see no real fiscal responsibilities from the voluntary annexation.
Additionally, the town council — president Doug Ruch abstaining — approved a mobile home permit for Glen Ruch, who plans to place a double-wide on a property located at 308 S. West St. The permit, however, is dependent on Glen Ruch meeting certain requirements.
The mobile home will have to be connected to the town’s sewer, proof must be submitted that the home was manufactured 10 years ago or less and any street cuts must be done in the next two weeks before winter. Street cuts must also meet the town’s standards.
The permit will now need approved by the county.
Milford Utilities Superintendent Randy Veach reported on several projects set to occur in Milford, including the need of an additional pump for the Barth lift station. With the new pump, Veach estimated work should begin by the end of the week.
Milling will start in Milford on Thursday or Friday, and will be followed by paving. Work on the new waterline will begin Nov. 14 or 15; Veach estimated at most there would be a 15-minute interruption of service.
It was noted Milford Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28-29, for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Next town council meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at town hall.
