Amish School Approved By BZA
Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a petition by Sunshine Workshop as part of the regular monthly agenda today in Warsaw. The petition requested a school and residence be allowed on the same tract of ground on CR 1300 North, west of CR 600 West in Jefferson Township.
The school will be located in a pole building.
In other business, the BZA denied a petition by Jill Cook to allow a residence to be razed and to construct an addition on property where two homes are located. Cook lives on the same property as a sister who had received approval from the BZA months earlier for a petition with the condition that the residence be removed. Matt Sandy, assistant county planner, noted apparently Cook was not aware of her sister’s petition. The property is located on EMS B53 Lane, south of Barbee Road in Tippecanoe Township.
Other agenda items included:
- Curtis and Angela Grady were granted a variance to allow a residential fence to remain, but it must be at least 1 foot away from the road right of way. A survey revealed the fence was more than 8 feet inside the right of way. The property is located on the east side of Second Trail in Tippecanoe Township.
- Charles and Marilyn Weber were granted a variance to allow an existing covered porch to remain as placed, and to allow an existing carport over a boat well. The property is located on Venetian Drive, north of Debra Drive in Turkey Creek Township.
- Ken Mullet was granted an exception to allow a shipping container to be used as an accessory structure in an agricultural district. Mullet plans to build a structure around the container so it can’t be seen from the road. The property is located on CR 1000 North, south of CR 1350 North in Jefferson Township.
- Joseph Margherone was approved for a variance to allow residence additions on EMS D25A Lane, west of Dewart Lake in Van Buren Township.
