Truck Stop Approved For Pierceton
Among the cases considered by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular meeting Tuesday was a petition by Speedway to build a truck stop in Pierceton.
As StaceyPageOnline.com was the first to report in July, Speedway requested permission to build a truck stop and gas station on a 15.5-acre tract at the northwest corner of U.S. 30 and SR 13. (See related)
The land is already zoned for commercial use, but traffic studies had to be completed by Indiana Department of Transportation before the BZA would vote. A diagram of the new building can be seen HERE.
In approving the Speedway petition, the BZA also granted a variance to allow 673.59-square-feet of signage when the ordinance only allows for 200 square feet.
Other agenda items included:
- Leo and Connie Glass were granted a variance to allow a deck to remain as constructed on the south side of EMS C19 Lane in Plain Township.
- Brian Head was granted temporary approval to allow an existing 40 feet wide tract of ground to remain when the ordinance requires at least 100 feet. The property is on the west side of CR 175 East, southwest of EMS C24 Lane in Plain Township. Approval was given for two years because Head indicated he bought the property as an investment and intends to sell it to an adjacent property owner so it can be attached to that property.
- Ted and Iris Hanes were granted an exception for a home based business to allow home decor retail sales on agriculturally zoned property on the south side of SR 14, west of SR 13 in Jackson Township.
