Don’t Miss Out On Upcoming WACF Events

SYRACUSE — Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation has four upcoming events open to the public.
Join the WACF Board of Directors for the Annual Lake Celebration at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at the Between the Lakes property, 5814 E. Pickwick Drive, Syracuse, across from The Channel Marker. This free and public event celebrates WACF’s achievements over the past year. The day will begin with a free breakfast provided by The Channel Marker, followed by informative updates from Heather Harwood, executive director, board members and collaborators. WACF will also take the opportunity to honor the work of volunteers by announcing the recipients of its annual Cattail Award.
Next on the activities is the Wetland Adventure for preschool and elementary-aged kids. The Wetland Adventure will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 30. The event is held at the Levinson-LaBrosse Lakes and Wetlands Education Center, 11586 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Come anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as they start wrapping this up by 3 p.m. and dive into a world of fun crafted just for preschool and elementary-aged kids. Each Wetland Adventure, discover a new side of the wetlands through interactive activities and crafts. The best part? It’s all free. Little explorers will need a grown-up by their side. For those eager to embark on a canoe scavenger hunt, bring a life jacket if you can.
Learn about the importance of responsible farming with a Farm Tour at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Anderson Farms, 2868 N. 1200W, Cromwell. Russell Anderson will explain the importance of responsible farming for the Wawasee Watershed’s water quality, followed by a rustic tractor and wagon tour of Dillon Creek at Anderson Farms. Reservations are required, but the event is free. RSVP on WACF’s website.
A Lillypad Cruise is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, leaving The Frog, 1116 S. Harkless Dr., Syracuse, at 10 a.m. Enjoy the scenery of Lake Wawasee and informative talks from The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams and the Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum. There is a $20 donation per person and lunch is included. The donation can by paid in advance by check or on the day of the cruise. Boarding begins at 9:45 a.m. at The Frog with a prompt departure at 10 a.m. Register on the WACF’s website.
