Two New Troopers Report To The Indiana State Police Toll Road Post

BRISTOL — On July 18, 2024, twenty-one newly appointed troopers graduated from the 85th Indiana State Police Academy. Two of those troopers are being assigned to the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post and will begin their next phase of training, a three-month field training period riding with veteran troopers. The purpose of the field training is to put into practical application the training received over the duration of the formal academy. Upon successful completion of field training, each trooper will be assigned a state police patrol vehicle and will begin solo patrol.
These troopers have already completed over 1,100 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques as well as hands-on and scenario-based training at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. The curriculum included criminal law instruction, emergency vehicle operations, psychology, traffic law, crash investigation, self-defense, impaired driving detection and a host of other law enforcement related training.

Trooper Jake Brindley is a 2006 graduate of Ogemaw Heights High School in West Branch, MI. Following high school he attended Michigan State University, earning a degree in dairy management.
Trooper Brindley will patrol the Indiana Toll Road primarily in LaGrange and Steuben County.
He lives in Steuben County with his wife and three children.
Trooper Joseth Vetter is a 2017 graduate of Dekalb High School. Following high school, Trooper Vetter joined the Untied States Air Force. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, which included a six month deployment to Qatar.
Trooper Vetter will patrol the Indiana Toll Road primarily in LaGrange and Steuben County.
He lives in Ashley, IN.
